How Honest Are You to Your Dentist?

What would you rather do than floss your teeth? Cleaning your toilet or working on your taxes? As funny as this may sound a recent study shows that 36% of American say they lie to their dentist about flossing and would rather do any of the unpleasant activities mentioned before over doing this important task daily. The survey was conducted by the American Academy of Periodontology as a part of their national campaign called “Love the Gums You’re With” to bring attention to gum disease.

With the absence of daily flossing, there is an increase in a person’s chance of developing gum disease as flossing rids food that may not be accessible by toothbrush. Contact New York Center for Cosmetic Dentistry if you know you aren’t doing your due diligence with flossing and schedule a consultation to check your gum health.
