Dr. Lena Varone
At the intersection of art and science, Dr. Lena Varone stands out as a pioneering cosmetic dentist whose meticulous approach to smile design is as informed by her studio art background as by her medical expertise. A Doctorate of Dental Medicine graduate from Nova Southeastern University, where she finished at the top of her class with honors, Dr. Varone brings a rich background in biology and an intense passion for studio art from her studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Numerous distinctions, including the KOMET USA Dental Photography award and an acceptance into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary society, match her academic prowess.
Dr. Varone sees each patient’s face as a unique canvas, her artistic eye enhancing her hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. In one notable transformation, Dr. Varone expertly expanded a patient’s smile from six mismatched veneers to a harmonious set of ten, perfectly aligned with the individual’s facial features, softening their expression and enhancing their overall appearance through comprehensive facial smile design. featured smile transformations
NATURAL VENEERS:
Four natural hand-layered feldspathic porcelain veneers were crafted to restore these traumatized front teeth back to their natural harmony and function. Veneers can be very seamless within a natural smile when designed properly.
THE POWER OF A SINGLE TOOTH:
This patient didn’t like the gap between her front teeth nor her old bonding that was dull, stained, and misshapen. Using invisalign express, we were able to close the spaces on the upper arch. We then lightened the teeth with zoom whitening, and two weeks later, placed a hand layered composite bonding and a permanent retainer on the back of her upper teeth to prevent future shifting.
SMILE REVISION:
Correcting 6 old veneers that were over textured and trapping stain, overcontoured and bulky causing inflamed gums and too much anterior dominance. The veneers were pointy and aggressive in shape and also showing black traingles near the gums. We re-established his facial harmony by doing selective gum recontouring to complement the pull of the smile, 10 veneers to accentuate the horizontal plane of his face to widen the smile and reflect more brightness. We softened the shapes to match facial features and now his lips frame his teeth when he smiles. Everything is calculated and calibrated.
COSMETIC BONDING:
Cosmetic bonding, when done correctly, can be a conservative way to enhance a smile while keeping its natural essence. This patient had a history of braces and Invisalign and did not wear her retainers at night so her space opened up. She didn’t opt to redo Invisalign, however, wanted to place cosmetic bonding between the front teeth to close the space. This was all done in one visit and we love the natural and seamless result.
ICON INFILTRATION
Sometimes our teeth develop with white patches due to hypomineralization of the teeth. With ICON, we can “rehydrate” these embedded dry patches to make the white spots virtually disappear in a very conservative manner.
