Given that nearly 30% of millennials have confidence issues because of their teeth, it’s no surprise that it impacts their career aspirations. Without the confidence of a clean and healthy smile, there’s no good way to feel excited about meeting new people or seeking a new job. When you find out how to get a better smile, you start having the kind of confidence you deserve.
Here are four ways to ensure your smile stays healthy no matter what.
1. Brush Twice a Day
Many people think they brush their teeth long enough, but that’s not the case. Most people brush for a few seconds if at all.
Instead, you need to start brushing your teeth for two complete minutes twice a day. You also need to exercise the right kind of technique.
First, you need to keep your brush at a 45-degree angle. Then you need to use short and circular motions. Each tooth should be brushed about 10 times.
Beware of being too aggressive as you’ll damage your teeth or your gums.
2. Floss Every Day
While everyone knows they need to be flossing more, few people are doing anything about it. You need to be flossing every day, carefully and thoroughly. When you floss, you get around your teeth in ways your brush can’t.
There are proper ways to floss your teeth and ways that can cause you pain. If you floss the wrong way, you’ll damage your gum line and may have to deal with blood.
Use a tight 12 inches of floss and keep it clean as you move from one tooth to another. Stay against your tooth so that you leave your gums alone.
3. Keep a Healthy Diet
When you maintain a healthy diet, you give your body the nutrients you need to avoid gum disease. To maintain a healthy body and a healthy mouth, you need to consume a lot of vitamins. Follow the standard of eating lots of vitamins A through E to keep your mouth healthy.
Pineapple cuts down on stains, crunchy vegetables help clean teeth, and too much coffee causes stains. Avoid sweet and sugary foods because they’ll break down your teeth quickly.
4. Stay Away From Tobacco
Tobacco use is one of the leading causes of gum disease and oral cancer. If you’ve never met anyone who has been dealt this hand because of smoking or chewing tobacco, consider yourself lucky.
The damage that tobacco does to your mouth isn’t worth the buzz. Tobacco degrades bones, breaks down enamel, and destroys your gums. And since it leaves your breath smelling horrendous, it should be avoided at all costs.
How To Get a Better Smile
When you diligently take care of your teeth day in and day out, you’ll be rewarded with confidence and a healthy smile. Keeping healthy is the trick to staying happy. When you’re confident, healthy, and happy, there’s nothing to keep you from living your best life. When you master how to get a better smile, you’ll enjoy life a little more each day.
